Hans Vine Sligh Family

The progenitor of the Sligh family in Dutch Fork SC was HansVine Schleich. He was born 26 Mar 1705 in Wesloch, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany, son of Carl Schleich and wife Anna Barbara. Hans Ulrich Sligh married 1) 24 Aug 1728 Weisloch, Germany, Anna Susanna Alsweiler born 26 Nov 1702 Weisloch, Gemany and died 26 Sep 1731 Germany. In 1732, he married Catharina ____ who was born 1710 and died 19 Jan 1745. His third marriage in 1745 was to Anna Catharina___ who was born in 1721 and was buried 22 Jul 1746. His final and fourth marriage on 18 Sep 1748 to Anna Barbara Senck who was born about 1725 Germany and died in SC.

The family of Ulrick Sleigh arrived in SC in 1752 on the Cunliffe. At that time there were four children: Eva Catherine 18; Creda 15; John Jacob 5, and Margaretta, 3 years old. The bounty grant of 300 acres was located on Cattail Br. of Cannons Cr. This land was inherited by the oldest son, John Jacob Sligh.
